Travel Assistance Fund

Help people get to Further Confusion!

Please note: The Travel Assistance fund is now closed for this year.

Each year, we have some folks who need a little bit of extra help in affording the trip to Further Confusion. This is your chance to help them out. The folks listed on this page are folks who have specifically requested help from the fandom and are people we feel are worthy of your consideration.

How to request Travel Assistance

If you need just a little help in getting to Further Confusion 2011, we're here for you! FC can offer travel assistance to those in need. Just e-mail us at (with 'Travel Assistance' in the subject line), and we'll add you to the list below.

When e-mailing us, make sure that you include your real name, fan name, mailing address, and provide a brief description (a paragraph or two) about yourself and what you feel you can contribute to the convention. Note that the deadline for getting on to the travel assistance list is October 1, 2010.

Travel Assistance List

Rose Quoll

I'm a 26 year old American/Australian (living in Brisbane, Australia). I moved here from the US 6 years ago. I've been making suits since 2003, though I've slowed down a bit recently. I've gone to FC twice before but because of financial difficulties I'm having trouble justifying the trip (even with the *awesome* theme coming up!). A few friends suggested that I sign up here as they really want me to be there.

As for what I can bring to the convention with my attendance, I would love to host a panel at the convention. Previously I hosted a marsupials panel which I'd love to do again if possible. I have experience with hand raising and caring for quite a few different native Australian animals as well, so I don't know if there's a possibility for an 'Australian species' panel as well, considering the theme?

As well, I'd be bringing a few of my suits as well as signing up for artshow space if I'm able to attend. I'd like to contribute in any way that I can. With the theme (and how close Australia and it's animals are to me) it'd mean a lot for me to be able to attend with my friends.

Scribbles Ayashi

I'm Scribbles Ayashi, a ferret who has been and still is a huge fan of the community. Ever since I became a part of the furry scene and attended my first fur con, I have wanted to use my talents to promote the community in every way I can. So what is this particular talent, you ask? I recently graduated from film school, and I would like to make an (approximately) 10-15 minute documentary about the fandom and how great it can be. And once the documentary is done, I suppose I could use it as promotional material for the next convention as well as putting it on the Further Confusion website for all of you to see!

I have never attended Further Confusion due to financial difficulties and our difficult economy, but attending this time would mean the world to me. And believe me, Ill make my contribution back to the community worthwhile!

Also, I welcome anyone who wants to be a part of the documentary process. You don't need a whole lot of experience, just a go-getter attitude and a willingness to help make this project successful (the stuff I need assistance with is fairly simple and even then, I can teach whoever wants to lean more about the craft). Contributing assistance is just as valuable to the project as any other means!

I am moving to Humboldt County in Northern California fairly soon and I can gain access to fairly inexpensive travel and hotel deals, though I will need a little bit of assistance in video camera/equipment rental (I will try to work out a deal with my school if I can borrow one of their Hi def cameras, but no guarantees). I have my own editing software and I am getting certified in Final Cut Pro fairly soon. Anyway, whatever you guys are willing to contribute I would deeply appreciate. You guys rock!

Oz Kangaroo

I'm a proud furry, I embrace it, the people in it and it brings so much joy to my life. Knowing that this year's theme is Australian, I'm not sure I would get another opportunity or be more suited again.

I'm 26 years old and started performing at an early age of 13. I entered the world of character costuming and have been involved in licensed tours for companies such as Warner Bros, Dream works, Nickelodeon, ABC, Sony, The Wiggles and countless more. I also perform and manage characters for companies and major league sports teams all over Australia. As well as stage and meet greet interaction, I've also performed for television programs, DVD Children's Entertainment and were mascots for the Olympic and Commonwealth games. After 1000's of shows, years of trained dancing experience I'm one of the most known suit operators among agencies.

It would be natural to put my love of suit performing to use and learn how to create costumes myself. Self taut, I later opened up my own company www.crittercountry.com.au where I offer not only mascot costumes to clients, but fursuits to furries!

In the fandom I'm well known for my dancing and wacky performances at conventions and YouTube videos. Popular costumes include Oz (a chubby Kangaroo who you will sometimes see inflating with the help of a SFX suit created by myself), and Duke, a German Shepherd who love to bust a move and strut his stuff.

I'm an amateur artist and have a large following on FA. I also created the new Australian convention Furry Down Under which attracted large numbers (for Australia) and has already outgrown its hotel in the first year. It's quickly becoming another major convention outside of the USA.

As you can tell from my performing background, I'm not a shy person. I'm a great public speaker and have hosted panels on fursuit performing/dancing at FC in the past. As well as performing in every FNL at each FC I've attended

Further Confusion was my first convention I ever attended back in 2003, I've attended only another 2 more since then due to work commitments around that time. FC played a very important role in my life, meeting many friends and basically introduced me to the world of furry.

I would love to offer you so much, and with some assistance, hopefully I still can.

I promise one HECK of a show for the variety show, masquerade, and I'll bring lots of new and exciting costumes.

Hopefully you'll give an Australian (born) person a chance to share his culture and enjoy this FC. I'm not sure this theme will come up again anytime soon and it would be an honour to be there in 2011.
