Each year, we have some folks who need a little bit of extra help in affording the trip to Further Confusion. This is your chance to help them out. The folks listed on this page are folks who have specifically requested help from the fandom and are people we feel are worthy of your consideration.
We're sorry, but it is now past the deadline to request Travel Assistance.
If you want to make a donation to the convention to help a specific person listed here, here's how you do it. Send us a check (our address is listed on our Contacts page) with the name of the individual listed in the memo field of the check (or money order, as the case may be). We will deposit that check into our accounts, and on November 15 we will notify the person of the amount received on their behalf. We will NOT reveal the names of persons who have made such contributions unless both the recipient and the donor desire us to.
Recent financial setbacks (including my car dying) plus the skyrocketing cost of plane fares has left me in the position of asking for travel assistance. I have been extra busy this past year in adding to my already large repertoire of art, stories, magazines and books, but I need a venue to promote and sell them, and that is becoming ever more difficult. So if you're interested in chakats, foxtaurs or other taur-related material, I'm your fur, and I would greatly appreciate any help that you can offer.
Who is this Mystifur guy ? Technically I am a 33 years old person, living in Hamburg, Germany. Other than that, I am a fursuiter and amateur costume builder and involved in the german furry fandom since about 2001. For several years now I am helping running EuroFurence where I am lead of the fursuit support team, host of StageFever (the EuroFurence Fursuit Variety Show), run the headless lounge, and generally keep myself busy.
I have not yet been to American conventions, nor have I had a chance to visit the country. My only stay in the U.S. was some time in 1996, in the desert of New Mexico, for a military tactical evaluation.
This year at EF, I have been asked by several people to finally attend American conventions. Unfortunately, after having spent the last years back in the university and currently only setting up my workshop to start a new business, I do not have the necessary funds to do so. Friends have started a donation account to help me with the travel plans, but not everyone, as good a friend as he may be, can afford giving away money. So by now, donations only cover about 20 % of the travel cost, not counting hotel and food or possible touristic travel.
What could I contribute to your convention in return, you ask ? Well, i'm not that famous, I don't draw, I don't play music, and I don't write fiction. Doesn't really put me in the top ranks, does it ? :-) My English is decent enough though, so you could put me into any fursuit related panel as an assistant, or... well, I'm open for suggestions.
I thought my disability would surely come through in time to fund my way to FC. But alas, I have discovered that, at least around here, attorneys run a scam, and don't actually faithfully represent their clients. So, my case failed. I have a strong case for review by the appeals council, so there is hope; but its going to take another year. Sadly, it means I have to, once again, beg for assistance to get to Further Confusion.
I shall be once again giving my presentation on wolves and wolf recovery, and maybe something on fursuits. And Further Confusion is about the only furry convention I can attend. It holds a great place in my heart as being the place I first fursuited in a suit of my own making; and the place where my faith that I still have friends out there was restored in 2008. I don't want to miss out this year. And once again, I will utilize the travel assistance monies to help at least one friend of mine get down there.
Given that I am in physical therapy, perhaps my attempt at making a fursuit on site can happen this time, without resulting in my being injured...heh.
After 10 years of hitting every Further Confusion event, I am in jeopardy of having to skip this one. Coast-to-coast travel has become too expensive, with the average GreyHound ticket rising by 40% over last years' prices. Air fares are pretty much out of the question. I would love to be able to make FC again... I've been to so many I'd hate to miss this one. It's always a sea of Fur, Love and Silliness. It's an opportunity not only for selling my furry wares and artwork, but for enjoying seldom-seen friends and communing with kindred spirits. Many furs look for me in the dealers' room every year.... and their imaginative requests for unusual-looking commissions keep me on my toes artistically. It's as much entertainment as it is work. Here's hoping I will be able to share in the fun and friendship again this year.
Hey, I'm Ovan! I'm a Kani that loves to be around others and make new friends. What can I contribute to the con? Well, I've been told I can lighten almost anyone's mood and I'm wonderful to be around. I can sing, draw, play video games like Rock Band, and I give great back massages! ^_^ I'm also a really great people person, so if anything involving people needs to be done, I'm your man!
My reason for seeking travel assistance is because this will be my first furcon, and it would be nice to go with others that share similar interests. I would ask that anyone considering helping me live in or near Sacramento so it's not too hard on your car and gas.
