All performances and costumes must be suitable for a general audience. Costumes must meet the guidelines established in the Public Behavior Rules found in your Further Confusion 2008 Program Book and on the website. In particular, bondage and BDSM gear is considered unacceptable. Collars and leashes may be worn discreetly or if their use is a necessary part of the act.
Individuals or groups (troupes) are allowed to perform.
Performances are limited to two (2) minutes for individuals, three (3) for two performers, and four (4) minutes for three or more performers. No exceptions will be made!
Entrants may either register for FNL by e-mailing the Lead/Director, or in person at the convention. Registration deadline is the start of the required rehearsal. It is highly recommended that interested participants join the FNL discussion list.
Entrants will fill out an FC 2008 FNL "Participation Form" to assist the FNL Lead/Director, the FNL Stage Director, the FNL Stage Ninjas, and the A/V Technicians in running the show smoothly. This form is available in advance (through the FNL Lead/Director via
), or at the Orientation and Rehearsal.
There will be an orientation for those participants who need additional information and the Participation Form, as well as for those who have a desire to perform but have no act/skit to perform in. We will attempt to place you in an act/skit that the FNL Staff has written, or place you with a troupe that has need for a performer.
There is a mandatory rehearsal for all performers of FNL. Exceptions to this rule may be granted for certain circumstances, but must be arranged in advance with the FNL Lead/Director.
Any prerecorded audio must be on CD or audio cassette using "audio format" (Redbook [.AIFF]). Sorry the equipment cannot handle the MP3 format . No other audio formats will be accepted. However, you are not required to have an audio track. You may either request to have generic background music (if available from the FNL Staff) or have nothing at all.
Entrants who have any audio that is to be played as part of their performance are required to have it available at the rehearsal on CD or cassette with your name (real or furry), the name of your act/skit, plus any special instructions for the A/V technicians plainly visible on the medium. If you are providing an audio cassette, please indicate the side to be played and have it cued at the proper starting point.
Wireless microphones, chairs, tables, a podium, and an easel will be available for stage use.
Special requests, such as unusual staging requirements or equipment requests may or may not be honored, depending on staff or equipment availability, safety, or compatibility. Ask in advance!
Flash photography will be allowed at all times during FNL.
These rules are subject to further revision.
If any rule listed here contradicts a Convention rule laid down by the Further Confusion Staff, the Convention rule will apply.
The enumeration of these rules does not constitute the entirety of the FNL rules. Situations that are not explicitly covered here should be brought to the attention of the FNL Lead/Director and will be reviewed by the Lead/Director and Further Confusion Staff.
All decisions made by the FNL Lead/Director regarding the FNL are final.
Judged Performance of Acts/Skits
Formerly a Masquerade Show feature, FNL will now judge and award the performance aspect of the acts/skits.
Participants may choose to not have their acts/skits judged.
Several, as yet to be determined categories, will be awarded by a panel of judges.
A special "Audience Choice Cash Award" will be given out as determined by the live audience.
The Masquerade Show will still judge and award for fursuit costume appearance and construction.
Late entries will not be accepted in the show, therefore, it is important to attend the orientation and mandatory rehearsal.
