Each year, we have some folks who need a little bit of extra help in affording the trip to Further Confusion. This is your chance to help them out. The folks listed on this page are folks who have specifically requested help from the fandom and are people we feel are worthy of your consideration.
If you need just a little help in getting to Further Confusion 2007, we're here for you! FC can offer travel assistance to those in need. Just e-mail us at (with 'Travel Assistance' in the subject line), and we'll add you to the list below.
When e-mailing us, make sure that you include your real name, fan name, mailing address, and provide a brief description about yourself and what you feel you can contribute to the convention. Note that the deadline for getting on to the travel assistance list is October 1, 2006.
If you want to make a donation to the convention to help a specific person listed here, here's how you do it. Send us a check (our address is listed on our Contacts page) with the name of the individual listed in the memo field of the check (or money order, as the case may be). We will deposit that check into our accounts, and on December 5 we will notify the person of the amount received on their behalf. We will NOT reveal the names of persons who have made such contributions unless both the recipient and the donor desire us to.
As for a description of mysef, I'm a 21 (soon to be 22) year old American living in Australia. I've been living pretty much on my own since halfway through my senior year of highschool and started doing fursuits just after graduating as a hobby and a way to make money in addition to the furry art commissions that I was starting. I spent the next year making fursuits and art to support myself in between parttime jobs. Almost three years ago I met my partner, Stephen (Quoll) online and used my commissions and fursuit work to save money to move to Australia. Since then I've spent the last two years working towards getting residency here in Aussie.
I've just recently gotten residency and am finally living in Australia permanently. Because of saving and full time freelance work I haven't had a chance to save more money than the residency cost or have the time to attend any of the cons that all my suits have been heading too. I've had quite a few people over the last year ask me to come to the conventions which I've had to unfortunately explain how high the cost is for flights to California and why I can't make it (because up until recently all my money way going towards the residency application).
I already have space for myself and my partner in a hotel room for the convention, and have a friend attempting to save what money he can to donate towards the costs of tickets to the convention, which can be upwards of $3500 USD for two people. Basically, I'd like to go to the convention as a sort of celebration. My first big furcon (I had a short visit to MegaPlex years ago), and my first vacation since working to move to Australia.
ZigZag: I own and wear the ZigZag fursuit, and have so far never been to an FC as the trip is very expensive for me, especially given my current temp job while I search for a more permanent position. I would love to be able to perform in suit at this convention, and if able to attend would likely hold my annual furry femme photo shoot, an informal group photo shoot where I personally invite all female suiters that I know for otherwise hard to take group shots. The odds are reasonable that I would be interested in participating in the masquerade, though I am still reading up on the rules and such.
Shrag: He is my mate and usually my photographer, and is also interested in attending FC as we have never been to a west coast convention. It is fairly likely that he would be taking the photos for my usual furry femme photo shoot.
I wish to apply for travel assistance. My name is Bernard Doove, but I'm probably better known as Chakat Goldfur. I am the creator of the Chakat species that has grown greatly in popularity over the past few years, and I have promoted taurs of all kinds in my writing and my art. I have one of the largest furry websites online, and I am the publisher of "South Fur Lands", winner of the Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Fanzine for 2005. I have been heavily involved with the fandom for many years, been going to conventions since ConFurence 5, and have been a dealer in them for several years.
The scheduling of Further Confusion puts it into the Australian high season for air travel. This adds enormously to the cost of a flight from Melbourne to Los Angeles, and puts quite a strain on my limited budget. I received assistance from you last year which helped a great deal towards paying for the ticket, which I appreciated hugely. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at FC again.
About myself, and be brief? Shouldn't be too hard. I'm an artist (you can see some of my things at http://us.vclart.net/vcl/Artists/Louis-LeClerc/ ). I've been drawing for years in the furry fandom, and teaching the Beginner's Anthro Art Course on FurryMUCK for 3 years now (although at the moment, I'm on a sabbatical of sorts until October, to get some projects done that I need time to work on).
I believe that I might be able to make a great convention even better. I am a comedian, a fursuiter, and a puppeteer. I can run panels on any of the three of these.
The biggest thing preventing me from attending FC is cost. Air fare to and from San Jose is pretty pricey (around $300 even if I order now), and the hotel room, even if I shared would run me another $100. So, to attend the con would cost me around $500, a price I simply cannot afford without some sponsorship.
